Jambo Cafe Albuquerque is a testament to the continuing drive and energy of Chef and Owner, Ahmed M. Obo.
The exotic locale of Lamu Island, off the coast of Kenya, with its fusion of Swahili, Indian, Arabic, and European influences, is at the heart of Chef Ahmed’s spirited cuisine. It was there, in his mother’s aromatic kitchen, that Ahmed mastered his homeland’s unique and fragrant cooking style, beginning a culinary adventure eventually leading him to open Jambo Café in Santa Fe.
In the years that followed Chef Ahmed also opened:
Jambo Imports, a boutique of African art, textiles, foodstuffs, spices, and more
Jambo Kids Foundation, a social enterprise providing healthcare for the children and families of Lamu, Kenya
Jambo Hapa, a food truck traveling throughout Northern New mexico
Finally, after hearing New Mexicans fans and tourists clamor for another Jambo Cafe, Chef Ahmed ventured into Albuquerque to open Jambo Cafe ABQ located at 1105 Juan Tabo Blvd in the NE Heights.
Jambo Café has a legion of loyal fans who wax eloquent over Chef Obo’s mouth-watering fare. Whether it’s a dine in, carry out or catered meal you crave, Jambo strikes “a superb balance between vibrant and subtle, making it better than most of what’s being served locally at many times the price.”
Jambo Café will tempt your palate with spices just right. Come dine with us for lunch or dinner and enjoy a journey into Africa and the Caribbean.
